Activation of Office 365 desktop applications is via your assigned credentials - i.e. your username (email address) and password.
In event that you face issue with activation, it could be due to multiple sign-ins by different users.
You may need to sign-out all previous instances of your sign-ins and that of any other users until you see the sign-in option at top right hand corner of any Office apps.
